Professor Krzysztof Pikoń is a professor at the Silesian University of Technology and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Environmental and Energy Engineering. He specializes in the circular economy, full life-cycle environmental analysis (LCA), sustainable energy systems, waste management, and energy transition.

He conducts research and provides expert advice in the areas of environmental technology assessment, resource efficiency, renewable energy sources, and decarbonization strategies. He collaborates with industry partners, public administration, and European institutions on projects related to the European Green Deal, the circular economy, and energy transition. He has participated in projects implemented under programs such as the European Commission, CINEA, and EIT InnoEnergy. He is the author and co-author of nearly 250 scientific publications, including over 150 articles published in renowned international journals. His portfolio also includes monographs and scientific studies on the circular economy, environmental analysis, and energy transition, including co-authoring the Handbook of Clean Energy Systems published by John Wiley & Sons.

He has participated in over 40 research and implementation projects, managing over 20 of them, including European and international projects related to the circular economy, sustainable development, and education for the green transition.

He served as director of the Energy Transition program implemented within EIT InnoEnergy in a consortium of 13 European universities. He is also involved in the development of modern educational methods, particularly challenge-based learning, project-based learning, and case teaching.

For his research, organizational, and teaching activities, he was awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission and received numerous Rector’s Awards. He holds international PRINCE2 and AgilePM project management certificates and has developed his experience during training programs at Harvard University, ESADE Business School, and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, among others.
